Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American performer and dancer. Her initial roles on Broadway include roles in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford grew up in a world of the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across stage film and television and she continues that award-winning work with several new projects in the pipeline. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu restricted program Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust featuring Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. In the form of a Hulu Original, the film will be released on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford returns to Broadway on March 20, 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be conducted by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who brought you Hamilton. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept to Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. Over the course of two seasons, Ashford was the main character of the popular CBS show B Positive. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Additional Broadway performances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren on Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford has now divided the time in Los Angeles and New York.
